Guidant group's blog on Aberdeen Research

Aberdeen Group's latest research, "Contract Labor Management: Superior Workforce Strategies for a Demanding Market", supports the MSP model. “By outsourcing contingent labor management to an MSP, organizations are experiencing numerous benefits,” said Christopher Dwyer, Aberdeen research analyst and author of the report. “These programs will not only help streamline the entire contract labor lifecycle, but also drive desirable performance while sourcing quality candidates.” Aberdeen’s research shows that top-performing organizations are 61% more likely to leverage MSP programs, independent contractor engagement specialists, and VMS technology.

Aberdeen Group recommends:

  • Leveraging Managed Service Provider (MSP) programs

  • Engaging independent contractor specialists

  • Implementing Vendor Management Services (VMS) technologies to efficiently manage the contract labor process

  • Implementing a review process for classifying labor types into proper categories

  • Developing standardized processes for the engagement of contingent labor across an organization

  • To support the Aberdeen Group’s recommendations, their research lists the following statistics:

  • Top-performing organizations are adept in leveraging technology: 63% percent currently utilize MSPs, while 61% have VMS solutions in place

  • Eighty-five percent (85%) of best-in-class organizations have clearly defined classifications of their employee types

  • On average, 17% of enterprise contract / contingent labor spend exists outside of the program
